Book reports elementary grades

Simply, writing a book report is not easy. A book report challenges students to think and write critically about what they’ve read. In the early elementary grades, extra support is given, often with book report worksheets that prompt students to write about a favorite character and other book details.

I was unable to find a template that had all of the questions that I wanted him to answer for his reports, so I decided to make one myself. I printed several of them double sided and put them into a binder so they were ready to go when we needed them. I hope this template will be of use to some of you!

These oh-so-cool reports were always the top-ranked project by my fifth graders. Students loved creating an original book report display using a covered cereal box and ready-made templates. The finished projects made a great classroom display, and students loved looking at their classmates’ creative reports.

Almost everyone has had to do a book report either in elementary school or high school. Book reports may not be the most pleasant pass time for students, but they instill a discipline where the student learns to think logically and critically about literature, and report on what they have read.
