The USC Writing Supplement is an additional part of the USC application that you fill out on the Common App website. The supplement itself consists of two writing prompts (250 words each) and 12 short-answer questions (100 characters each). The word limits mean you'll have to cram a lot of information into a small amount of space.

USC supplemental essays are an additional part of your university application. They allow the admissions counselors to learn more about you, your personality, interests, and experiences. You’ll write them in the same manner that you would any other Common App essay, be it an NYU supplemental essay, MIT, MSU, or anything in between.

In 2019, the students encountered 3 USC supplemental essay prompts on Common App. Those were as follows: Describe how you plan to pursue your academic interests and why you want to explore them at USC specifically.

• Submit your fall grades (when available): Use the Mid-Year Report Form included in the Common Application or visit your applicant portal to submit your fall grades. • Application Affirmations: Affirmations will be available in the portal after we receive your application. Your digital signature may be submitted after the application deadline.
